Oil pastels, ink and bits of torn paper are combined to create landscapes that are reminiscent of reality but are purely imaginary.
These images express a mood or begin a story to be continued by the viewer. Visions of space, embedded maps of places far and near and half-remembered dreams are the subjects of these pieces.
Discovering the immediacy and expansiveness of acrylics led me to begin to paint on a larger scale. In the Sky Series, I explore distance and light within landscapes that contain elements of water, earth and sky, but not always in the expected order.

These objects are 3-D collages made with paper, oil pastels, plaster, oil paint, found objects and lacquer. The blank papier-mache masks, sticks, stones and styrofoam mannequin have been transformed into something more. I try to keep the words of Jasper Johns in mind—”Take an object. Do something to it. Do something else to it…if applied with a certain willful touch, those somethings …will feel and appear conjured rather than crafted by human hands.”
